Hi Guys,
I currently have a 5s as my main phone and a Nexus 4 as my business line. I also have a nexus 7 as a tablet. I am wondering if anyone has used the note as a their main tablet. I would use it mostly for media consumption and as a business tool .
Would like to know if anyone is using the Note 3 as a tablet and their experience with it . Is it worth replacing the note 7 with it ?
Thank you

I have both.

When you compare screen size minus the screen real estate you lose on the Nexus 7 for onscreen buttons, there isn't as huge a difference in screen size as you'd imagine there would be.

For that reason, YES for me... the Note 3 will replace my Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 is a curious tablet in that it eschews the normal tablet layout / experience associated with Android Tablets in favour of essentially the same layout as a 1080p smartphone.

So really I have two devices now that are offering essentially the same kind of experience, and for one the screen on the Note 3 is notably better than the Nexus 7 in colour saturation and of course blacks / contrast. In fact two side by side and set to full brightness you can clearly see the difference.

With all that in mind and the extra features the S-Pen has given me for scrapbooking stuff - I just find myself picking it up rather than the Nexus 7 now.

So yeah, I will be selling or giving away my Nexus 7 to a relative...

Though I likely will pick up an iPad Mini 2 Retina simply because it offers more tablet like app experience to some apps, and having both it and the Note 3 provide me with best of iOS and best of Android.

Yes its a good device (I wouldn't say great personally) but I can do everything on my Note 3 as I can on my nexus 7 so why would I need two devices that do the same thing. Take away the screen real estate used up by the onscreen buttons and for me there isn't a huge difference in available screen size so yeah personally since getting the Note 3 I have barely touched my Nexus 7. So what would be more nutz? Holding onto a device I'm no longer using, or sell / replace it.

He didn't say it is rubbish - he merely stated which one he prefers ...

I have two Nexus 7's. An original model one and the 2013 one.

Yes, the new one is much nicer and makes the old one completely extraneous, but I find reasons to keep it around and keep using it because it is still a very good, very useful device.

What really annoys me with the N7 is the keyboard. I like the Google keyboard and use it on my S4 ... But on nexus it's just rubbish. If I wouldn't have gotten the N7 as a gift I'd dump it for a note in a heartbeat

I'd say definitely yes. The N7 should be much smaller if it didn't have those huge bezels. The N3 is pretty much all screen.

The only issue is that it's tough to get a data only plan for the N3, at least with AT&T. I couldn't get any data only plan to work on it and didn't want to pay for another voice plan.

Yep the bezels which were always obtrusive, feel positively gigantic next to the note 3.

yeah that's what pissed me off about the N7. Everyone raving about it, but it looks quite ugly to me with those bezels. I know they had to cut corners somewhere, but personally I would have had NO problem spending another $100 to have small bezels like the galaxy line does.

While others were complaining of boredom with iOS 6 on their iPhones, I was enjoying it on my iPhone 5.

Trusting Apple and quite honestly getting caught up in the "upgrade to iOS 7" I made the mistake & upgraded. Now I had not one but two very irritating issues. One, a buggy OS & two, that small display.

No longer having any confidence that Apple would go larger on the display, and expecting the worst waiting for bug fixes, that was enough.

Now I'm using an exceptionally impressive Note 3. It's large form factor may not hold universal appeal, but for me it's a very good fit. Faster and far more fun than I ever would have guessed, I could not be happier.

Everyone wins. There's Apples compact phone for some, and lots of Android choices for the rest of us.

The size difference between the note 3 and the nexus 7 is still very significant. Especially since the aspect ratio on the nexus 7 is different as well. Unless you plan on using the note 3 as your phone, I wouldn't get it. Its an all in one device not a tablet.

The bezels are there for landscape view and to house the stereo speakers.

Regardless of why they are there, they are fugly and make it look cheap IMO. Samsung has 7 and 8 inch tablets with minimal bezels and they work quite well.

Look at something like the Dell Venue 7 for another example, decent bezel size. http://drippler.com/google/nexus_7#!1034102 I'm not comparing specs, it has a lower res screen, just simply bezels.

Heck the obvious comparison is the ipad mini of course, I'm not a fan of it, but the bezels are absolutely beautiful.
