Replace optical drive with SSD Mac mini 2010

I'm looking for something like data doubler for Mac mini 2010. I rarely use my optical drive anymore. Thanks for your help!!

I asked this question before, here is a reply from velocityg4:

I would go the cheap route and get a SATA Power cable and a SATA Data cable. An all in one cable is likely better but they are tough to find. Then I would stick a few felt furniture pads on the bottom of the hard drivers to prevent it from making noise like it would just resting on the interior framework. If you do some searching you can likely find better prices on the cables.

Or you could get a prebuilt MCE Optibay. It is a nice solution but insanely expensive at $99.

Hmmm... Do you know what he meant? Is it just connecting it to Mac mini interally but not harnessing it?

my read of what he said is exactly that. since he's comparing it with the optibay which uses the mounting for the optical drive and has the hard drive held firmly in place.

if the drive youre mounting is an ssd i wouldn't worry too much about it. just make sure there's nothing in there that could be shorted if you move the mini whilst its powered on.

mechanical hdd - you might have to be a bit more careful, but then many of us move our laptops when theyre running, so maybe even there you'd just have to make sure of no electrical shorts

2. buy a mac mini server

Ummm... Yeah....
1. Im lucky if I sell it for 600.
2. Mac mini server is 999, plus the cost of ssd. So im not sure if YOU could figure the math on that, but I'd rather spend cash on an SSD than a Mac mini server because I don't mind the work, and I don't want an HDD despite the 7200rpm.
