... and I'm quite happy with the change.

The Notes app has come a long way. It's not the simple note-taking app from 2 - 3 years ago. Personally, I find it more useful for a few reasons:
- You can't zoom in / out the page which is something that drove me insane in Notability.
- Better integration.
- Easier organization of files.
- Allows for different types of pages (lined, squared, etc).
- Far more battery efficient.

I've decided to do this after Notability made my M1 12.9 iPad hot. I was expecting to make a lot of compromises but I was surprised to see it's even better than its paid offering. The only thing that it is missing is simple exporting. In Notability you can export a PDF / JPEG in just a few simple steps. I still don't know how to do this with Notes.

I'm starting to believe that the default apps on IOS / MacOS are actually a lot better than many commercial solutions. Pages is brilliant. iMovie is very competent for basic tasks. Reminders is clean and quite practical. Too bad not many people use them because "they are free, so there must be better solutions out there."

You can export to PDF using the print to PDF feature.

I like Apple Notes especially in the iPadOS 15 beta. The one thing holding me back is I can't find a way to annotate PDFs. I get a lot from work and use GoodNotes as I can highlight and comment PDFs. Until I can do that in Apple Notes, I can't switch to it exclusively.

I have used Apple Notes for years. Alas, since iOS 10 or so the sort order of the search result has been changed. When I do a search, the results show up in a seemingly random order (“sorted on relevance”?). I have like 1500 notes and a good search function is essential. A search often gives notes on top which are years old, that’s not working for me. For this reason I switched to IA Writer on my iMac and 1Writer on iOS and I’m happy with the switch.

The one thing that bugs me with apple notes is how it handles images. You either get thumbnail size or entire screen size. I just want to be able to resize images like you can do in evernote/powerpoint etc. Other than that, really enjoying it.

With iPadOS 17 you can finally do this
