So I got a replacement 3Gs recently becuase my lock/unlock button was about to pop off. I noticed today poking around and saw that this one has a 5K serial number. Anyone else have ones with 5K serial numbers?

Yeah thats what I figured, doesn't bother me at all though. Infact this ones physical build quality seems better than my two new ones did.

I agree to this... refurbs have been better to me than originals...

Don't know if it makes a difference, but I got mine through apple care over the phone. I was tired of dealing with the dork bar.

The Genius Bar people are cool. Some of them are not. Those that are not are usually pompous as*holes. Those that act like this are either: working at Apple for a paycheck or simply think they are above anyone else.

The really good Geniuses are those that work at Apple because of the conviction they have in Apple and the brand it represents and because they want everyone (like them) to have an always positive experience with their Apple product.

I have found also AppleCare over the phone 10x better than a Genius Bar, but that still doesn't mean you don't find nice Geniuses all around. I had one Genius give me an extra discount on my Al MacBook the day I bought it because I was sick (flu) and asked for the student discount (I had my student ID ready to be shown).

I agree, the apple store down the street from my house has all the pompous anus geniuses... So I will only go to the bar for my computers because the mac guy is cool, like you said he loves macs and wants people to have the same passion for them as him.

I've had some real pricks take my case at the genius bar. The last one was probably the worst. My iPhone was acting up and giving me the "This accessory is blah blah whatever" popup and none of the sounds were working. I checked the liquid sensors before going in because I knew that was one of the main symptoms of water damage. He checked both sensors and plugged it into his diagnostics program at LEAST ten times and badgered me about getting it wet even though I told him I hadn't.

He finally replaced it but not without giving me attitude first. No smile. No looks in the eyes. I even told him I would prefer they fix it rather than replace it because of the screen protector/BSE shield I had installed on the back.

For the most part I've had nothing but good experiences though.
