Ah also even if its a real 5.1 tray into a real 5.1 machine ? (Not the 4.1 i also have)

If SMC-version matches and it has no other damages, it is a 100% replacement.

Just investigated it further. The guy selling this advertised it as 5.1 (while it was in reality 4.1) so happy i didnt fall for it and checked. Thanks for input though.

There are only two smc versions.
..f11 for MP5,1
..f5 for MP4,1

Both, CPU board and backplane must have identical smc versions, if not, the system manager goes to panic mode. What is full fans.

A f11 board in a f5 backplane needs firmware upgrading the backplane to MP5,1 to have the microcodes, of course.

If there is another version shown it is faked by OpenCore.

As said, quick test is ok but loud, if everything else is matching but smc.

I may sell one of my 5,1 machines in a few weeks.
