I apologize in advance for the crappy grammar and multitude of typos in this post, but I'm a little tipsy from a recent beer tasting event (yeah, on Wednesday, wtf).

I know it now - I'm not going to pay a fortune for a mobile phone anymore. It's just plain dumb for my needs. I've been sporting the 5S for couple of years now. It's an awesome phone, but I'm pretty much forced to change my handset. The screen panel is peeling off, one of the mics is broken, there is ton of dust under the screen and the front camera... Out of warranty of course, as I have dropped it a few times.

My previous experience with Android comes from a GS3, which I loaded up with Cyanogen back in the day. It was fine until the point when stuff started breaking down. The one thing I somewhat dislike is the OS itself. iOS is staggeringly good - one thing Android phones won't probably ever match... At least for me.

But it's time to move on. The options are (from cheapest to priciest):
- OnePlus X: 269€ - The cheapest and probably the most beautiful one out there, but lacks a few key features (fingerprint sensor f.e.)
- Honor 5X: 299€ - What a price for an incredibly well-made phone.
- Nexus 5X: 399€ - Performs well, looks like ****.
- iPhone SE: 499€ - Not as "budget" as it could be... But at least you get the near-perfect OS.

Does any of you have experience with these handsets? I'd love to hear out your opinions and experiences with them. I'm already leaning a bit towards the Honor 5X. Cheers!

I'd say it's really between the Nexus and the iPhone if you want actual support. I wouldn't be sure if the Honor is going to get N, and I definitely wouldn't trust OnePlus. But that's just me.

Either the Nexus or 5S(E)?

Seriously, have you considered another 5S given how cheap they are... Or will be tomorrow?

After having the 6 and 6S I went back to the 5S - I think it's my favourite iPhone since the original although the battery does take a beating from 2016 software and usage. I am gonna check out the SE tomorrow.

Had the OPX and it was nice aside from the camera. I don't expect many OS updates. Wouldn't bother with Huawei either - EMUI is odd.

For your situation try trading in your iPhone 5S at an Apple store and hope they give you full credit for it then apply it towards a 5SE. Can only speak for the US so it'll be about $250 out of pocket ($399 - $150 trade-in).

The Apple Store
Have you looked at getting a Nexus 6? I have one and it's a great phone. You can find them for around $350 new in box on Amazon. It's a year old, but in my opinion it's better than all the phones you listed, minus the iPhone SE.

Get a mint used android flagship. Not worth paying new prices for mid range. Galaxy S7 edge now being sold in the UK for £440, S6 edge plus for £350 and S6 edge for £280 used.

This, if you don't need the latest and greatest, getting a flagship from last year is a great way to get a good deal on still relevant hardware. Not sure the pricing where you are, but I got an email from Motorola showing the Moto X (2014) for $199 unlocked.
