After jailbreaking my 2G iPhone I got from my brother and getting it set up just the way I wanted, I have managed to drop it and cracked the glass. It looks like only the glass is cracked, and the LCD display and touch sensor works fine. However, my research seems to indicate that in the 2G phone, the sensor, glass, and LCD are all one unit, and therefore a simple cracked screen is expensive to fix. Has anyone fixed the glass on a 2G themselves before, and if so, what replacement parts were necessary, how much did it cost, and how easy was it to do?
