Replacement Harddrive Price?

Hey all,

I've recently been having trouble with my hard drive, and believe that it may be on it's way out...

Just wondering how much I'd be looking at paying to get Apple to swap out and replace my (1TB) hard drive.

I know there may not be an exact price, but I'm just looking for a rough estimate - also, would this be something the 1 year warranty would cover? I've never had to deal with Apple's support, so I'm not sure...

Why not call and ask? You should also look for AASP's in your area too.

Planning and calling tomorrow actually, just kind of anxious as the hard drive (noise) is driving me crazy.

Annoyingly, there aren't any within 2 hours of where I live. ;(

If there is a problem with the HD (excessive noise can be count as one), Apple will deal it under warranty and replace it for free

Hi. My Apple Store told me yesterday that they don't replace hard drives on my iMac (bought Jan '08). Mine is full. Best Buy told me cost of HD + $60 install + $160 data transfer. I would just feel better doing it at Apple. Please let me know what you find out!

You'll need to find an Apple authorized service center or perform the upgrade yourself. Apple usually doesn't perform upgrades at the stores (though some individual employees have done so).

Apple is required to service your machine for five years(seven in CA). Of course there could be a cost, but if someone told you they didn't service a 2008 machine they are uninformed.

As for the data, it is your responsibility to back your information up.
