My replacement 2.2GHz SR MBP just arrived! I had popped home from work to meet the FedEx guy and so I fired it up quickly before coming back. The screen is PERFECT; no bleeding, no stuck pixels that I could find (I'll stop looking now!), and no hint of yellowish in the bottom 1/3 of the screen.

Thank youuuuuu Apple!!! :)

Congratulations! Samsung or LG?? Which week?

Thanks,

Sorry PDE, I'm afraid I'm not exactly sure how to check that! Can you tell me? Didn't seem to how it under System Profiler.

If you go to system preferences and then:

Displays

Color

Choose COlorLCD on the left

Click on Open Profile on the right

In the new window that opened, scroll to #13 and click on it

What doe sit say under "Model" ? If it's 09c68 it is a Samsung and if it's 09c67 it's an LG.

Thanks for your help, PDE!

I guess I have a Samsung. Here is what it says;

Manufacturer: 00000610
Model: 00009C68
SN: 00000000
Manufacture Date: C2110E00

Interesting...a Samsung with no yellow. What manufacture week is the lappy or the 2 digit number after the W87xx in the serial number???

25.

I've done multiple things to try to see the yellow including various backgrounds, color profiles, etc. For better or worse either my eyes are incapable of seeing it or it's not there :)

Maybe I just got lucky since my first one was a dud a few weeks ago???

My week 22 Samsung glossy had no discernible yellow at the bottom. I figured I was just lucky until the backlight completely failed after two weeks. :(

Not sure, but I think all the 17" displays are made by LG. There's an app called res switch that can provide the actual LCD model number.

Sorry, not sure how I typo'd 22 instead of 25... I MEANT 25 and I'll double-check that tonight, but when I got into work this morning and glanced at this thread, I realized the mistake and remember clearly seeing 25.

What exactly does the 25 mean in relation to the month?
