I have had many minor issues with my new iPhone. First off the black piece of the casing on the back of the phone is slightly off center. On one side there is a very small gap between it and the silver casing. This appears to be no big deal, but every time I remove it from my pocket there is lint and other debris in the gap. Secondly, and this happens about twice a day, when I push the home button to light up the screen the screen will appear black. I then have to wait a few seconds for it to turn off, then try again (which usally works). My final complaint is that I have had dropped calls due to freezing about 1-2 times a day. A call comes in and as soon as I slide my finger to answer the call, the call is dropped and the phone lags for a few seconds before returning to normal. Am I just being too picky, or should Apple replace my iPhone?? I am making an appointment with the Genius Bar and hoping that they will work with me. I would rather not have to send my phone out for repair, so do you think they will replace it in-store?? Thanks for your input...Oh and I bought my phone on launch day, June 29th.

You shouldn't have any problems with the in store replacement. I had very similar problems with my iPhone (second one). The hanging up when you "slide to answer". From what I can tell this isn't a very common problem. The apple geniuses claimed that the same thing. But I totally feel your pain, its hard to LOVE the iPhone when its not a very good phone.

Just so you know, they ended up giving me a refurb iPhone. It doesn't bother me one bit, because it was refurbed and not just used. It looked great, smelled new, but already had 12 hours of talk time logged in on it.

Thanks for the insight. Hopefully they'll work with me. I just don't want it to turn into a situation in which they have to send my phone away for testing. I feel as though they should be more leanient with us for being "1st Gen. Adopters." Or at least that's what i'm hoping. And I would have NO problem with a refurb as long as it functioned properly! Was this a major problem with you, or did it happen intermittently like it did with me???

Anyone else have any similar situations and/or advice? I feel like they're going to turn me away and that's frusterating...

I think you're being too picky about the gap. The home button problem, maybe that's a little too picky, maybe not. But dropping calls because it freezes? That's what I would complain about.
