Hello.
I just traded in my 2 year old 1 GB Nano (battery was fading fast) for a refurbished same-model Nano. (My Mac is running OS10.3.9, not compatible with the newer iPods).

I plugged the "refurbished" iPod into my computer to charge the battery. The Apple icon flashed for a few seconds, then the screen went black and has stayed that way for the past 2 hours.

Is this normal for a new/needs to be fully charged battery?

Also, my iTunes/ computer does not recognize the iPod. Will that happen if/when the battery charges? I plugged it in, nothing happened. No icon on my desktop, iTunes did not open automatically, as it has done before.

Do I have a lemon of an Apple?

Do I have to go back to the Apple Store AGAIN? Say it ain't so.
Thanks all.

FRUSTRATED and going back to the Apple Store

Yessss, I've tried that - toggling, pressing, charging the battery (over 12 hours now). plugged into USB ports, wall outlet, a Mac AND a PC... the thing's still dead as a doorknob.

So, it's back to the Apple store. 4th time this week over this one issue-and the store is always crazy-crowded like the mall on Christmas eve.

All this over a battery. Grrr

Thanks for your suggestions..

The exact same thing happend to me a while back with my iPod classic. I did all the same things, plugging it in everywhere, pressing buttons. And then I gave up and sat it back in it's box ready to send back to apple or to take to an apple store. Then about 1 and 1/2 to 2 days later I took it out of it's box, pressed a couple off buttons and It came to life. I have no idea what happend.

Maybe you should try this?
I don't know.
