Is it possible to have individual keycaps replaced (if the letters get worn etc.) from the Genius Bar with M1/M1Pro and M2 MacBooks?

I have found contradicting information over the internet some saying the whole top case needs to replaced along with the whole keyboard and others say individual keycaps can be replaced by Apple and I would like to clarify the issue.

What did the genius tell you when you called?
They were not really informative and said I needed to take my Mac to them but I live far from an Apple store, so I seeked answers here to see if it is possible to replace individual keys.

I haven't had a need to do this in some time, but I can say I used to be the tech director at a school. And we gave all our kids MacBook Airs. And middle school kids aren't gentle. I frequently took MacBooks to our local AASP for keycap replacements. I tried to do them myself a few times, but it was too fiddly and annoying.

So: historically, yes, Apple will do this. Do they now? Unclear. But I don't know why they'd stop. I think we were paying something like $30 a keycap for this back in 2014-2016 or so.

Did those MacBooks have scissor or butterfly keyboards?

Oh duh. Yeah. These were the old scissor type. I wonder if they do it for butterfly or if they just replace the whole top case?

Sorry, ignore me. :)
The new ones are scissor as well, so maybe it is relevant and they can change individual key caps.
