I have a 21.5 inch late 2012 iMac. A few months ago I opened it up and replaced the HDD with a Crucial 500 SSD. The update was effotless and without problem and I am now running Catalina. I also loaded DriveDX to keep an eye on things. As part of the install I cleaned the fan and this is operating normally.
I notice that when I boot from cold (most mornings) that the temperature of the SSD is typically 15 degrees (C) above ambient. On startup it loads Mail, Safari, Skype, DriveDX and Activity Monitor so the whole process from boot to open screen after log-in takes less than 1 minute. Today, for example, ambient was 22 degrees, SSD opened at 38 and is now sitting at 49 degrees.
What should the normal temperature range be for the SSD?
