iPod Replacing 5G iPod Harddrive with Macbook SATA Harddrive?

Okay, I know this is pretty out there, but I'm just curious if it would work.

So the harddrive in my iPod died and its obviously not working anymore. But a few months ago I upgraded my Macbook Harddrive and kept the old one and couldn't use it for anything.

Is there any way I could use the logic board/lcd/etc. with the my 60gig SATA HD?
I'm assuming I'd need a new power source due to the larger drive.

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure that the power requirements would be the same, but the main problem is finding a ZIF-SATA converter so it will even plug into your iPod's logic board.

Sorry if I'm way off base here, but how would a 2.5" SATA drive from the MacBook fit into what is about a 1.8" opening on the iPod? Or are you planning on using it already disassembled?

I wouldn't even try. your ipod uses a PATA low power 1.8" HDD. your portable ipod would suddenly become very unportable with the big battery you'd have to use, plus the fact that the 2.5" drive wouldn't fit into the case, plus all the bulk you'll have to add for the conversion hardware you'd need to make it work.

Yeah, I was planning on either making a new case or just using it dissasembled. I'm not really going for convenience or portability, I'm really just trying to see if its possible. And I don't feel like paying ninety bucks for a new harddrive, haha.

I've looked online for some converters and to see if anyone else has done it, but I haven't found anything.

Which I'm not even sure it would work.

And I'm assuming I will need a new power source because the stock drive says 3.7 volts and 500mA and my SATA drive says +5 volts and 1 amp

Any other ideas
