I'm wondering if we can get a play-by-play for this proceedure: Friend has a Macbook Pro 17" that's about 15 months old (mine has the 2.33 chip, so his is the one just before that). It's running 10.4.11 and he's running XP on one partition and Mac OS on the other. I'm swapping it out for the new 320 Scorpio. In detail, so a dummy like me can do it, what are the exact steps, never mind the hardware end -that's what iFixit.com is for, to go about reformatting, partitioning, and ultimately replacing this drive successfully? I've got the free-ware iBackup that I intend to use to image the drives (using the plural to describe two partitions). Is this about right?:
1) Plug in new Passport and, using disk utility, format two 149.05GB partitions, one using the Windoz format (MS Dos) and the other using Mac format, HFS+.
2) Using iBackup, transfer Windoz image to Windoz partition, then do the same to Mac image.
3) Do physical swap of hard drives, Boot computer like normal.
Could you experts fill in the holes here? I need to have this plan down pat before I go to do it. Thanks a bunch.
