I have a fairly new 20" iMac G5 (previous to iSight) and was thinking about replacing it with a 15" PB.
I don't do any real work on the iMac to need the extra power. I do WoW, internet, mail, listen to music, some iPhoto...general work. I recently bought a PB which I still have, and I'm within my 30-day return period to Amazon.
I have those annoying horizontal lines on the PB, but they are barely visible under normal work, only when editing pictures or video they are slightly noticeable, but kind of bothers me to know they are there.
Is this a smart choice? Or should I return the PB and get a 12" iBook or 12" PB and keep my iMac? I do most of my work at home now, but I'm starting college soon and think I might need the portability, thus I'm considering a portable.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.:)

If you have the money, I'd return the PB and get a 12" iBook. Those are sweet right now and great if you like to work on the road. Especially since you said you don't need the extra power, the iBook will be fine -- and the iMac can be your main computer. And they match so nicely :p.

The iBook will be great for college, I'm sure. I personally love my 12" PB because I can take it anywhere. The same is true of the 15" of course, but it doesn't seem like a hassle like a bigger computer would.

I guess what you really need to ask yourself is: What are my main needs? Power, full-featured, large screen? Or portability, cost?

I now I'm planning on going a similar route when I go to college, except with a PB and Power Mac.

Between the 12" iBook and the 12" PB I was leaning more towards the PB because of the extra power boost and better graphics card. That 32MB on the iBook is sad IMO, and even though I don't need the extra boost and power now, I might in the future. Who knows?
I really wish Apple released a 12" PB with a backlit keyboard.
That would be a sure choice, of course.
