Replacing Intel iMac Hard Drive

I am looking to replace my 250GB hard drive on my intel iMac with a bigger one. I have found resources on how to do it, but my question is: does it need to be a specific type of hard drive or would any internal hard drive do? Also anyone got any suggestions for types of Hard Drives? Nothing too big. Well big is fine expensive isn't. Thanks

3.5" SATA I or SATA II (doesn't matter)
