I have been asked to replace the display of a cracked A2289. The MacBook was tested favorably with an external display

Amazon sells displays with the metal casing. Does it make sense to keep he original casing and install the "display only" or is there a good reason to skip the "display only" and buy the display in he metal case?

Any suggestions as to how to narrow down the choices is appreciated.

@jav6454 thanks for he iFixit suggestion. I wonder if it worth paying $500, when a similar part on Amazon is ~$220?

The Amazon part will be cheap Chinese part, which will break or now be of sufficient quality. iFixit uses non-OEM parts that have been vetted. You won't get OEM class, but quite similar.
