Replacing MBP keyboard

Here in the netherlands unfortunatly you cannot order a MBP with a US keyboard but only get a choice between a Dutch and US international keyboard (which are essentially the same). Since I am really used to US layouts as I have used them my entire life I have been concidering ordering such a keyboard from eBay and replacing it myself. Am I correct in assuming this does not void my warranty (as long as I don't break anything)?

as far as I know, it would void your warranty, the only things that wont void your warranty (that I know of) are replacing ram, and the HD (the HD I am not positive if it does void warranty)

Would there be any chance that a AASP would be willing to replace it in that case (there are no "official" apple stores in the Netherlands, so I'd have to go to a mac specialised computer store.)

as far as I know, it would void your warranty, the only things that wont void your warranty (that I know of) are replacing ram, and the HD (the HD I am not positive if it does void warranty)

If you have an Apple certified tech do it, your warranty should be ok, but you should check with Apple just in case. The only user serviceable part you can replace is the RAM; even replacing the hard drive will void your warranty if you do it yourself.

its not too had, the keyboard comes out when you replace the harddrive, but im not positive on the warranty thing, it goes back to that "how does apple know you changed it if you put it back" before its serviced question...

From what I've read you have to remove part of a stuck on foil which can tear or something to remove the keyboard. I've e-mailed two AASP's in amsterdam. Hopefully one of them is up for it. It's too bad it's so hard to get a US keyboard... I bet that if they offered it it would be sold more then the dutch one (they offer it in France, FRANCE OF ALL PLACES! )

I found this in the warranty information (the dutch version seems to be the same as the english)

This warranty does not apply:
(a) to damage caused by use with non-Apple products;
(b) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake or other external causes;
(c) to damage caused by operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by Apple;
(d) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”); (e) to a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Apple;
(f) to consumable parts, such as batteries, unless damage has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship;
(g) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports, that does not otherwise affect the product’s functionality or materially impair your use; or
(h) if any Apple serial number has been removed or defaced.

This suggests that you continue warranty unless your service was the cause of damage.
