Good Day everyone, I am about to replace my original hard drive with a new SSD. I would like to know if it is advised to remove the ram before cracking the case? It has been years and my memory fails me (no pun intended). Thanks so much, Lynsey

That's exactly what I have.
You don't have to remove the RAM before. But it only takes 2 minutes anyway!

If it's been awhile I'd suggest reading or watching a guide for your model. Just so you are clear on the steps. Most importantly, clear on the monitor cable locations.

Yes, I have watched a lot of videos. Some very good, some done by monkeys with a football.

So, I am getting the feeling that ram removal is not necessary but is recommended.

I am going to replace the original HD with a SSD coming in today. Am contemplating soon adding two eight gig sticks of ram to the existing factory ram bringing it up to 20Gigs of ram. Shaking in my boots regarding getting dust on the glass, maneuvering the screen and panel too. Not to mention finding a dust free, animal free environment.

I do not have any canned air or microfiber cloths so this will be interesting. Am up on cabling, proper tools, static and patience.

Wish me luck and thank you.

I use a lint free cloth dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol for the screen and inside of the glass. Then dry it off. After that I thoroughly inspect both for streaks, spots and dust. Then I'll put the glass back. You really need to move the glass around under a light and view at multiple angles to visually catch the dust and any streaks.
