Hey,

I have the Matshita UJ-85J with firmware FCQA in my iMac. I have found out that this drive is impossible to make region-free (right..?). This bugs the hell out of me!! I have tried to experiment with ripping movies from other regions than the drive is set for, in both OSX and Windows. I can't do it.. If I can get it to start ripping, then the result is garbage..

I was thinking.. Aren't there other drives that would physically fit in the iMac, that can be made/are region-free? Anybody know anything about this? Even better; anybody who have DONE this?

first of all replacing anything other than ram in the imac is extremely hard to do.

But i would suggest just buying an external firewire drive that does waht you want it to do.
