Does anyone use their iPad as a planner?
How?

I like to use a Moleskine as a datebook/calendar and daily to-do list (specific tasks for specific days).

I have not had luck using iOS for these functions...the reminders app doesn't really help remind me visualize specific reminders for different days the way a paper notebook planner can, and it lacks the "in your face" "reminding" power that paper does for me.

Maybe however with the Apple Pencil and new apps/features some people have found a way to ditch the paper planner and only use the iPad? (I'd really like to carry an island around alone, without the added weight of my Moleskine!)

There is a whole group of people using GoodNote as a planner. There are Bullet Journal options. You can see some of them on YouTube, and you can buy the PDF papers on Etsy.

Also, there is an app I'm going to try for some of my planning - because I do need reminders. Let me go grab the name of it for you. Daily Notes.

There are so many apps for planners and reminders on the app store. What exactly do you want to do on the iPad, is it freeform writing and drawing but with handy reminders?

I am not sure any stylus/pencil apps have built-in reminders, the only one I can think of is Evernote used with Penultimate but you might need a subscription. Each Evernote note can have a date and time set. Also the iPad is considerably larger than a notebook moleskine so is it worth the effort to switch?

I have been using Notes Plus for nearly 2 years now with my iPP 12.9 and Apple Pencil. I am a teacher (primary school/elementary school) and I have created a daybook for my teacher planner, and have also created notebooks that contain assessment sheets, student information, admin, meetings etc. This all took time and dedication to make it all work but now I have gone almost completely paperless in my job and couldn't do without this brilliant app.

I love Things3. It now integrates with calendar and reminders and is really intuitive.

in the same boat, would love to use my new iPad pro and pencil to replace my notebook at work. what are the top apps for this?

Closest I have come is a personal management system that consist of OneNote, Readdle Calendars, and Things 3. However, I still use my Bullet/Moleskine Journal for my weekly tracking. I do not like to pick up my iPad, have to enter an app, find the right place, and then type on a keyboard that is prone to tons of typos. Even more frustrating when you want to make a quick note and the fingerprint sensor decides to be stubborn. Here is what I do:

- Store project information and documentation in MS OneNote
- Maintain my to-do lists in Things 3
- Rely on Readdle Calendars for my appointments
- Use Due app for critical, spur-of-the-moment reminders
- Weekly/daily, pull out my to-dos into my Bullet Journal.
- At the end of each week, scan my Bullet Journal pages into OneNote

ALL of this syncs seamlessly between my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro.

I asked notability devs on twitter if there were plans for handwriting search and they said no plans as of now :(
