Reply from lock screen while locked still not fixed

I have that feature off in passcode, but I can still reply to a message while the phone is locked.

Is there something I'm missing?

There should be a option to see your message on the screen and reply if you unlock it.

I always thought of it that way too, yet when I experimented with it a bit in iOS 9 and/or 8, as I recall, it also controlled being able to reply to messages from the lock screen.

You're right. I was able to do this with iOS 9.
