After replace FOUR video cards, my pride-and-joy now has way too many problems to repair.

However, I've never just tossed a Mac, since 1984. Is there any way to repurpose this MBP with its incredible real estate. Maybe as an external monitor?

TIA!

It's time is over.
I wouldn't spend any more $$$ on it.
You spent too much already.

What are the problems? You can disable the video card entirely and use the iGPU only via a sticky thread at the top of the MBP forum if it's that again.

Awww, she's like an old g/f. Great bounce in her time so I'd like to keep putting up with her.

The shop where I had this 17" for three years over Covid kept finding more stuff wrong. Not as simple as disabling the video card. Keyboard, trackpad, battery, logic board (motherboard?). The price to fix is a few hundred dollars. Wife won't let me spend it. (Yeah, -whupped but she makes all our money.)

But it's heresy to toss away a Mac!!! All video cards were free from Apple so far but they've pulled the plug.

"I can't do that, Dave." There's gotta be some way to at least make a 17" screen into an external display.
