Just wondering here if you can recycle a 256 GB SSD from a 2014 MacBook pro to an external enclosure.
I have decided that the old the old SSD is too good to waste and so does anybody know if there is an enclosure for this purpose.
I'm already aware that Mac SSD sockets are non-standard and it's proving difficult to find an enclosure suitable.

You should be able to find an external case for it on Amazon or some other site. Then use it for say photo backups or something ....which is how I've positioned some old SSDs. Some I just wrote the pw on (cryptically) and set aside as proto photo backups and doc ledgers. May never use them again but ...'backup. backup. backup'. Could be used to back up 'Notes' or fin pdfs or other docs.

Thank you both for your replies I was hunting around on Amazon looking for something cheaper and couldnt seem to find anything.
So I guess it looks like OWC, a little pricey but it's better than selling it cheap in small ads, online etc.
My idea was somthing small and portable, speed not really an isssue, to carry around with my Macbook. Rather than "lugging" loads of Gear in my baggage like the days of yore. :)

They sell nvme external drives. Selling this on and use the money from buying the enclosure to get one. You‘ll have much more space then.

The enclosures for these Apple-proprietary drives are too expensive to make them worth it, unless the drive is a larger one (at least 512gb or 1tb)...
