Hi, I'm in the market for the 17" PowerBook right now but all I can find are nice and clean setup shots online and then the ones at Apple.com, hardly anything to compare size to. So I'm asking if anyone has any shots of the 17" in their setups or around objects so I could get a feel for just how big it is. I'm going to the store to buy one here in a week or two, so this is just a request, see if I may want to scale back to the 15" or something.

Thanks! :D

Sure thing Blingbling.

I'll tell you first hand, if you want a laptop buy a 15". If you want a portable desktop, buy a 17".

In the first photo (which people will probably give me hell for) a can of soda is sitting on a 17" powerbook...

The second photo shows that a 17" pb is actually thinner than a gameboy advanced sp...

Good luck.

It's too bloody big!

As my friend Nigel pointed out, "We all talk about wanting a 17" penis, but does anyone ever go out and get one? No!"

Thanks for contributing to the discussion.

The 17" provides a great amount of workspace, but its not for everyone. You might find that you're not worthy of 1296000 pixels. If that's the case, then maybe the top of the line isn't for you. ;)

these won't help with size reference (that coke can is a good example though), but they are images of my 17" penis... im mean, powerbook. :)

what about...

your penis? does it like to talk too? you guys, is nothing sacred? even our macs are subject to your anatomical references. :p

well, if that's the case...size does matter, no matter what they say. ;)

i know you weren't the first to make reference to your yang. ;) Like it was stated before, 17" can prove to be more than some need or can handle. i mean how could anyone get around with that in their...

moving on, it's not only length but width that matters too. you want to make sure that it fits...right?

oh, and a big AMEN to, "trying a few out." :D

wait, who's trying who out?  :p :D

I'm impressed that I actually bought UT2004!! I'm not a hardcore gamer (haven't been since Sega Genesis) - but I liked the demo enough to pay $30 for it. Supposedly that is the purpose of releasing quality demos - it worked on me!! :p

I guess this also is a free advertisement for the Sony DSC-W1 5MP camera. It is SO badass!! Lots of cameras try to do movie-modes, but Sony is the only one with a crisp picture. You can get this camera for $500 including a 5 year warranty if you shop around or PM me for details!

Back on topic - the 17" isn't really that much bigger than the 15". It looks that way in the store, but when you line them up - they take up the same amount of "personal space". :D

p.s. Is there a way to get these pictures under control? I didn't upload them to MacR b/c they were way too big. Ideas? Is there a tag function enabled in these forums for % size or width= etc.?

ahhhh... my post has been imortalized. :)

yeah, the 17" is just a bit bigger than the 15", but it counts in pixels. ;)

if your personal space is cramped by the 15"; the 17 will push you over the edge!

*****

lost_in_space - so if length AND width count... maybe people should be more concerned with girth? ...unless one only has a 12". ;)

Request for 12" PB photos

I on the other hand, have no problems with the size on my weener. So could someone post a few pics of the 12" and use an A4 pad, a PC tower (sideview) and a mobile phone for scale reference please? ;)

Here is a thread on the same topic with pictures comparing the 17" to the 12, 15 Al, 15 Ti and iBook.
