Hi there i think if apple is charging 1 $ per song they have to be more competitive about the AAC files.

i dont exactly know the specifications of the id tag of AAC but. i think integrated lyrics in AAC files which can be seen in the iPod screen while playing the song would be really cool.

send me your ideas about that.

and if there is an apple cooperate guy who is reading this, please mark this idea as a request :)

that sounds interesting, but just like the artwork feature, more and more hard drive space will be taken up...granted lyrics won't take up as much as artwork, but the point of AAC was so that people don't have to use up all their hard drive space to get something good.

first it would take up hard disk space, but would you really want to stare at your ipod looking at words. i would just rather turn it on or throw it in my pocket, or turn on one of the games while i am listening.

...

it would take less than 10kB per song so I really cant see no issue with hd space.

If you got 5000 songs it would be something like 40 000kB, that's nothing.

What I'd like to see is an iPod sized device with XM radio. The antenna and little head units you can buy aren't very big, you'd think you'd be able to merge those things together into an iPod like device.

I'd buy one, especially if it had some of the hard drive capabilities (or better yet, ability to record off the xm radio).

Who exactly are they competing with? Who else is offering songs at that price point?

they are competing with the current mp3 downloading audience who are getting the data for free (i know it is illegal)

but trying to persuade people to get the same content for money which they could get for free. is really hard in the first place so apple have to give extra services like integrated lyrics and so. i also know they are paying 62 cents to the music companies so 1$ per song is nothing. but as i said before ideas like integrated lyrics would help them grow in the market.

BTW: as the other members posted lyrics wont take any significant HD space of the iPod.

Well, this isn't really an iPod feature (as your title would suggest) but really an AAC/iTMS feature. But I think it's a great idea and would love to see it happen. I would also like to see more comprehensive use of the Album art...like perhaps the back cover also...showing the track names and such...Oh, and the ability to print custom CD labels and case jackets for my mixed CD's.

As far as the iPod feature...i would like to see an FM tuner and perhaps a built in FM transmiter so I can play my music on my radio...without buying a seperate device. A line in/recording feature would be nice. I've read that it is actually built in to the new iPods...but I want it to be supported by Apple. I'm going to get an iPod soon regardless of the lack of these features...and i don't really expect apple to add most of them but that's what I'd like to see.
