Hi

Im trying to understand something with OS updates on my MacBook, we have 3 users on our MacBook 1 is the admin the other 2 are just standard users.

Now every time there is an update for the OS, after its installed one of the standard users always gets prompted for appleID password, the admin and other standard user can login as normal.

This was exactly the same on my old iMac but with a different user.

Is this some sort of security measure?

I just don't get why its always the same user that gets prompted for apple password. I thought it was some bug at first when it happened on my iMac but for it to be the same on my newer MacBook with a different user this time, Im not sure it is.

Can anyone explain.

Thanks

I too have been getting prompts for my Apple ID password after OS updates, and I don’t understand why, either. IIRC, it happens when I first log in to my usual (admin) account after the update.

One thing I have noticed is that there is a place to click (bottom left?) to skip putting the password in. I’ve done that the last few times and it seems fine — I’m still logged into iCloud and everything works as usual.

Ah thanks, Im guessing its just standard behaviour maybe then, I never noticed the skip option, always just input password straight away without looking will check out for that next time and try it.
