Hey all,

I had a 6S, but changed to an SE when it came out. Now, I'm kind of regretting my decision but don't know if it's worth the money to switch back.

I'm probably due for next years new phone (not the 7), so I'm curious what you all think would have better resale value in 2017: the SE or the 6s.

I would assume the 6s value would be a bit better due to the larger screen. The internals are basically the same thing so that's a wash. Everything right now is dropping in price because the new device is being announced next week. So you technically could get a good deal on a 6s now and in the coming weeks as far as a used device goes. Then outright sell your SE, unless it's under a payment plan..just a thought. :)

The 6s has the better screen tech and a headphone port. The SE has the fact it is a solid design with a good following of people, but even still it could well be up against an iPhone that has the same footprint but bigger screen (if they eliminate the home button).

Sell the SE and get the 6s in the 2 weeks after the unveiling and you'll get a good deal from an upgrader.

I think the 6s will have better resale, it has a few features the SE doesn't have.

You will be able to sell the 6s for more than the SE, but the value comes in how much you paid for the device. If you could get them both for the same price then the 6s would be the better value IMO.

It is also going to depend on what the next iPhone will look like (after the 7) and if anything is going to be in-between. I would think due to the SE success there there will new smaller iPhone. But if there are not the SE would retain it's value even better as the "best" smaller iPhone.

Thanks all! I've been watching Swappa and I'm sure the 6s is going to go farther down in price once the new phone comes out, but I couldn't decide if the SE would as well.

Now the real question is whether I'll regret moving back up to the 6s after wanting to go down to the SE so badly.

I also owned both the 6s and SE, the 6s is the clear winner with resale value with all the latest features the SE is lacking.

6S vs SE
+ 6S has Force touch
+ 6S has much better Facetime Camera (SE has 1.2MP)
+ 6S has much better screen (SE is still stuck in 2013)
+ 6S has faster Touch ID

I'm not hating on the SE. I actually just bought one... and just sold it. As a 6S+ owner then I thought the SE would be a great secondary phone but once I started using it then the missing features mentioned above really annoyed me. Its not that the SE isn't a good phone. Its the best 4" phone out there. But even with the upgrades its still behind the times. And with iOS10 creating a lot of great functions with Force Touch then I think its a big missing feature that will make the SE feel outdated much faster than the 6S.

Anyway. I ended up selling it and putting the money in my tech fund where it sits patiently along with the money I got for selling my MacBook Pro (2015), Stainless Steel Apple Watch and iPad Air 2. I hate to say it but Apple really doesnt seem to be putting any effort into their products anymore and their lack of quality upgrades affects resale value because the difference between a 2016, 15 and 14 is just so little that people aren't as eager to buy.

Well, if you have the 64 GB SE it's never gonna be useless to buyers who just want the basics. I find 64 GB the sweet spot when it comes to memory.

I think you'll get a higher percentage of your purchase price for the SE, but you'll likely get more money for the 6s.
Yeah. Obviously the iPhone 6s is going to sell for the most money. It costs more. Nobody is going to pay more for an SE than a 6s. But you will definitely get a higher percentage of your money back with the iPhone SE.
