restore and rejailbreak
ok, I admit, i'm an idiot
changed my iphone5 root/mobile passwords some days ago and now i cannot remember anymore...
how can i reset them?
google came up with nothing useful...please help
it is jailbroken
ifile on the appstore and ifile in cydia are two different things?
the backup restore restores the changed root pw, too?
No problem, good luck. Don't lag it too long!
Once ios 6.1.3 comes out, you're stuck with not being able to access your root password since you can't restore to a jailbreakable version (unless there's a way to reset it that I don't know of)
When ever i have restored from a backup the passwords are always default "alpine" so i think you will be fine if you can't fix it use the link at the top of the post
ouh? can you elaborate? restoring to a jb version? why would i need to do that? and how?
----------
interesting, and that was after you had changed your root password and made a backup with itunes?
you're talking about the itunes backup restore button, right?
If for some reason or other you need to restore after 6.1.3 is released (bad tweak or you really want to gain root access again) you can only restore to 6.1.3 which will not be jailbreakable.
As it is a root password it will not be in a itunes backup, that only contains settings, txt, pics, music, etc.
A firmware restore followed by a restore of your local itunes backup file will give you back your default alpine password.
So best thing to do is firmware restore to 6.1.2 and then restore your itunes backup before 6.1.3 rolls-out.
but i take that evasion will in due time come up with another version for 6.1.3?
firmware restore... that's just done in itunes, too, right?
like described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414?
that itunes backup does not contain any jailbreak apps or settings i assume?
neither the ios wlan and email settings?
ok! did like you folks advised and tada, all is well again
thanks
now, i am still wondering how to map the full filesystem as a usb drive over the lightning cable.. can't seem to find any good solution through google
any hints?
That's great. Did you restore and restore from backup? Fortunately, you were able to do this as iOS 6.1.3 just got released 2 days ago.
Have you tried out iFunBox?
yup, like this
me happy puppy again
don't understand, why does 6.1.3 pose a problem for this?
besides, do i understand right that with evasion installed, ios updates aren't coming through anyway? in settings/general/updates i don't get anything...
the update would seem to work over itunes however.
but that would disable all jailbreak apps, right?
are the evasion folks working on a update?
ifunbox, thanks for the hint, looking good, will check it out asap, but reallyreally need to get back to work now!!
