In a cup of orange juice.
Hurray,

After eons of waiting it's out, and it's great. The controls are superb for a console-to-PC game. The mouse input is real, not tacked on.

This was worth the wait and I'm one happy gamer right now as I loved RE4:Wii and Dead Space on my PC.

It really doesn't need much PC power by today's standards to run it smoothly, so if your hardware is somewhat current, you'll be good.

Anyways, this is an outstanding PC game! They really honed it for both the mouse and keyboard. Anyways, back to playing this heavy action-ized RE game. I'm playing it on veteran mode.

It's out already? I pre-ordered it on Steam, but it won't unlock in another 2 days and 14 hours. Can't wait!

The only Resident Evil game I played was RE4. At first I wanted to play it on PC, but it turns out the PC port is horrifically bad. So I got it for the Wii, and it was really good.

Oh, and The Dig is awesome :)

15th is the official date, at least here in the states. Not sure about other parts?

I was anxious about getting this, so was hovering on STEAM and Capcom's site last night, but neither offered it for download at midnight, so I figured I'd try retail first. Lucky me, Best Buy had them in stock yesterday afternoon. :)

I played RE4 Wii through four times! Easily one of my favorite console games now, and I hated it the first time I tried it on a Cube with a gamepad. I'd buy RE5: Wii, if it ever becomes a reality.

I bought RE4 for PC earlier this year for $19 -- only because of RE4:Wii. I figured that the mouse mod would allow it to run at least as good as Dead Space, but I was wrong. Even after updating the graphics and getting the mouse support working, it was an abomination! The controls tacked on to the mouse are horrid and I don't like doing the thumb-stick thing for aiming, so I'll never complete it on the PC. Talk about a lazy port. :]

Glad you like The Dig, it's still such a great game. I started playing it again with my friend's son. At first he was a bit taken back at its dated visuals, but it didn't take much to get him interested in playing it.

Anyways, hopefully your RE5 will be available soon and the 2 days was a glitch. This game was worth the wait. :)

No worries, not trolling. :)

Yep, you're still nailed in place, BUT....

You can look around as fast you can react, which makes a huge difference over the console version. Turning with the mouse is faster than doing a 180 with the quick turn, so it's much easier to shoot out of a swarm, if one is twitch happy with a PC -- like me.

They also upgraded the menus in the game to use the mouse. It's just a click or drag away to adjust your inventory.

There's also a mode similar to the Wii version, but I haven't tried it yet. I like the default mode, as it's similar to Dead Space. It lets me rely on the mouse for all looking/panning, instead of my keyboard to pan, and the mouse to aim.

Anyways, I'm really enjoying this game on the PC. I would have never bothered playing it, if I couldn't do so with a mouse, or even a Wiimote.

Here's hoping for a demo soon, so you can try it out, or if anything a good deal on STEAM. BUY IT!!! :)

Well, I can say that it runs pretty decent on a 8600M gfx card.

1088x something res
no aa
no blur
vsync off
locked at 60hz
low shadow (medium if you dont mind a little choppiness)
High texture
High overall detail

around 25-30 fps, 20ish on medium shadow

Finally, the game was unlocked yesterday for those of us outside North America, and took a whole day to download.

I played the first 2 parts of the game (1-1 and 1-2). My first impression is how quite similar it is to Resident Evil 4: The game mechanics are identical, and the "zombies" are very similar to the Ganados. It even has the same breakable wooden barrels and boxes all over the place. It's like a high-res version of RE4 set in Africa instead of Spain (or where ever it was).

I also felt the controls weren't perfectly optimized for mouse and keyboard. The mouse movement feels like it's mapped to an analogue stick, and some of the menus don't work well with a mouse. For instance, I'd much rather be able to drag and drop items between Chris and Sheva instead clicking through a drop down menu.

As for performance, it runs great on my PC: 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo (E8400), 4GB DDR2-800MHz, Radeon 3870 512MB, and Windows 7 RC1. I've maxed out the graphics settings and set the resolution to 1600x900. It runs at around 30fps. Capcom have done a great job with their MT Framework. :)

When a mouse is mapped onto a stick, there's always latency, a kite string effect with the cursor. This would noticeable everywhere, even in the title menu. This game exhibits none of that, the mouse cursor is on its own layer independent of the game's framerate/screen-Hz. It moves flawless no matter what's going on with the screen. The only place Capcom put a cap on the mouse, is when turning while moving. They clamped it to the same speed as a stick. To get around this, I just let up on my keys for an instant and I can turn as fast as needed.

The Chris to Sheeva missing option bugs me somewhat. I'm not sure why they didn't add it, maybe because the option to give only shows up if she's nearby, so they didn't want to deal with a pending action. But, try the same menus with a gamepad if you have one, and you'll appreciate being able to drag-and-drop to combine items, or simply left-click on the item to use it.

I'd prefer the RE4 style menus though, where as everything has an actual size, but with mouse control of course. I'd also prefer an RE4 typewriter to save my game. Anyone know how to save whenever in RE5?
