Ouch and it crashed while creating users. May have to pull out old air to make a recovery drive. Ouch. Trying install again and no iCloud setup.

Working with Apple Support on this. The restore doesn’t let me create users and it throws an error about an unknown directory service.

I’ll keep you guys posted if anyones interested.

How did you erase the drive?

If you did not erase the volume group or perform an "Erase Mac" you will have issues.
Disk Utility and removed the partition groups. It worked this last time, but now I'm hitting other inconveniences such as my iMessages not syncing properly. Its showing messages from 2019, nothing newer.... I may be doing the Big Sur IPSW.

Ummm... one does not fool with beta software on one's primary Mac UNLESS one has already made a backup that will make "restoration" easy if need be...

I fixed it. I went back to Big Sur. I have a 2015 MBA i5 that I used for the Apple Configurator 2 app. I wasn’t worried about getting it back up. I don’t mind beta testing.
