Respect To The Mini

Had mine for a good while now, had every Intel Mac going and thus far I'm on a Mini.

Strange to end up with a Mini if I have had a MP, iMac(s), MB & MBP but I have to give it respect and this is why.

Installed Windows 7 through BootCamp, now I'm an old PC Gamer from way back and did have a shoddy PC that ran MW & MW2 (to name a few).

Never bothered to try those games on it nor any other for that matter so I went ahead and installed Steam and MW2, granted its on the second to smallest resolution and on low settings it runs surprisingly well, clocked in a few hours now playing MW2 on the Mini.

Then one night I thought I'd buy the new MOH so should I get a new gaming PC or more powerful Mac I could play it, anyway I installed it and 6 hours later completed the single player (again with similar settings to MW2).

So from not playing any games to experiencing STEAM on Mac (L4D2) to trying it out in Windows I gotta give respect to the Mini & the 9400m chipset!

Anyone got similar experiences about the Mini? Might not be the most powerful but its sure got enough ummph to push above its weight in my opinion.

Maybe it's just me, but having to run lates games at low resolution would take a lot of joy out of it for me. Part of the experience (for me) is to enjoy the environments in their fullest detail, it definitely adds to the over all experience.

The same goes for me.
Also, if I want oldschool graphics, I would play old, great games, like the ones you can found on different sites. Also, one site to worth to check out: gog.com

I'd agree OP, the Mini is an impressive machine. Again, not the highest end specs or the fastest thing in the world, but for the size, its neat what it can do.


Hopefully Apple will offer even more power inside in the future.

I've recently purchased a MacBook Air, and I was considering a iMac to work with, for heavy lifting. But now I'm considering buying a Apple Display, then buying a Mac Mini down the road. I had the original Core Duo and that thing flew! Way faster then the G4 it replaced(and even the G5 it replaced in my home)
