Alright -- I have my gmail account setup for push on the iPhone. However, I never send via that address. I have 2 other addresses I use. My gmail address is the default send from address and I hate that. So here it is:

Is there anyway to set the iphone mail system up to respond via the email addressed to(a la gmail)?

I hate having to click the "from" section and change my from address that way. This sucks... I've already messed up multiple email conversations this way.

I'm sure the answer is NO, and for this Apple sucks.

as far as I remember if you have multiple accounts set up, it automatically sends from the one that the email came to. Yours doesn't?

I don't think you can set it up to automatically do it, I've looked for a way for quite a while.
I always have to just change it from the " from field" before sending the reply.

go to gmail on a computer and under account settings
you see a list of your email addresses make the one you send from as default
(also the option to always reply from the same address as sent to - doubt that option would work tho)

reply back if it works

I do that on gmail. However with the push setup you can't change the default smtp on iPhone... None of that works
