This is really odd, almost exactly 3 hours after putting it to sleep (console shows it's only seconds off the 3 hour mark), my mac will restart itself, and boots to the flashing question mark folder icon. Holding down the power button to force a shutdown, and then turning the computer back on again, it boots normally.

This Mac, purchased mid February:
iMac17,1
Retina 5k, 27 inch, late 2015
4ghz i7, 3tb fusion drive

Running 10.11.3, no updates available in software update
I have installed windows 10 via boot camp

I initially noticed this happening after I left the Mac on, and went out during the day or went to sleep myself (I've always had my Macs set up to sleep after a certain period of inactivity), but after a little trial and error found that it was when I also put it to sleep myself. The only way I've found to prevent it so far is to actually shut down. I'd rather not do this.

Energy Saver settings are currently as follows:
"Turn display off after..." slider set to 10 minutes
(No "sleep after..." slider setting, which I've always seen here on previous Macs, not sure if this is a retina thing or an El Capitan thing)
"Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" is off
"Put hard disks to sleep when possible" is on
"Wake for network access" is off
"Start up automatically after a power failure" is on
"Enable power nap" is off

Any ideas?

Here is the console log from when this happened overnight last night. The last few lines from when I put it to sleep at 12:33, and all of the lines from 3:33 when it decided to reboot.

nothing.

physically attached to my computer are:
-lightning cable, usually the lightning end isn't connected to anything, but sometimes i plug my iPad or iPhone in to transfer music/books/photos, sometimes it's used to charge the magic trackpad 2 that came with the computer
-the apple usb keyboard with the number pad, which in turn has a usb mouse connected to it

there is a 3rd gen Apple TV on the network. I can't speak to past incidents, but last night, the Apple TV would most definitely have been in sleep mode as well.
[doublepost=1458187664][/doublepost]besides which, having read the wake on demand article you linked (thanks, it's good information to know), "wake for network access" is off. after seeing stuff about bonjour and my wifi network in the console, I turned this setting off and it's still happening.

Also try to check you sleep mode in terminal:

pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

I have a MacBook Pro and that command returns hibernatemode 3

I had something similar occur to me with the weird screen but only when windows went into hibernation and I tried to wake it. To fix it I went into OS X preferences and reselected Macintosh HD as the start up disk. Then went into Windows' bootcamp panel and reselected Macintosh HD as the start up.
