Since installing Lion, every restart runs Tools instead of completing the boot into the Finder. I have to manually select the startup disk and reboot again.

I don't believe this is expected. Any hints?

My MP, since Lion install is doing weird startup things too. Can't for the life of me figure out whats going wrong though. Lion is very buggy indeed.
 
Hello,

This could be too simple, but have you checked Permissions lately? It looks like your selection of the startup disk, or the fact that Tool has already run once, doesn't "stick".
