Im wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before. I'm using a jailbroken iPhone 5 with Evasion running iOS 6.1.2. My phone works flawlessly, however whenever I restart (not respring) or power off, the phone boots up normally and then it restarts and continues to loop! I also see the screen dim as if F.Lux is running (I also have that installed) as the phone is restarting. In order to stop the loop, I have to quickly enter my password and the unlock my phone, in which afterwards, it'll boot up normally. Once it's up and running, there are no issues afterwards. Any ideas as to why this may be? Anyone experience this before? Is is related to F.lux? Thanks!

In my opinion, definitely not flux related. I've been using flux forever and it has never caused any issues like this. I will say though that my phone also quickly flashes the flux orange during boot but always goes back to normal if its day time. It's been doing that on my phones for a really long time now.

What else do you have installed? We might be able to track down the problem.

Thank you for your input. It's interesting because I SIM lock my phone and I thought maybe that was the problem, so I disabled the lock and restarted it and the phone booted normally. I then re-enabled the lock and lo and behold, the dreaded restart loop returned. I will try this again later today just to confirm the problem is related to the SIM lock and nothing else.

Sounds like a plan. We'll figure it out. It's gotta be something from Cydia causing the loops.

Going through the same problem here on my iPhone as well. Whenever I restart my device or delete a Cydia package that requires a respring....it goes into a 'safe mode' loop SEVERAL times before it stops. Annoying as hell. I have even done a full restore + set up as new + re-JB and it still does this.

I'm convinced it related to one of my apps/tweaks but I'm unsure which one. Here's is what I currently have installed:

Activator
AdBlocker
CallBar
DietBulletin
Five Icon Dock
Flex
FolderEnhancer
iBlacklist
iFile
iKeywi
Messages+
NoSpot
SpringFlash
StatusBarCustomClock4
WiFi Analyzer

Hold volume up while it boots to get into safe mode. Launch cydia, uninstall a package, reboot and see if the problem was fixed. If not, do the same thing again with another pacakge. Continue until you find the problem.

I'd start with folderenhancer. If that is indeed causing the problem, go in with ifile and delete any old plist files left over by folder enhancer and then reinstall it.

I believe it was indeed FolderEnhancer (or a combination of FE + another tweak). After removing FE the issue has disappeared. I have rebooted and re-springed my iPhone several times - and it has not crashed into 'safe mode' not once. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also where are the old plist files stored?

I think you're correct when you say it's a combination of FE and something else because I have FE and I don't have any problems. I would assume its a springboard/backboard/folder/icon tweak via flex that is conflicting with FE. I don't even know if you use flex for that sort of thing but that's my guess.

Thanks Bumpy! I don't think it's 'Flex' because I've had this issue prior to using Flex. FolderEnhancer is a nice JB app/tweak but not essential in my case. I have removed it for now.

It turned out that it was NOT FolderEnhancer after all. The culprit was 'CallBar' or another app that conflicts with CallBar.

After uninstalling ALL of my JB apps and reinstalling one by one, it turned out that after installing CallBar - my phone was immediate respringing into safe mode (8 consecutive times before it stopped). After I deleted it, all was well. Installed again for confirmation and phone in respringing loop once again.

This sucks because CallBar is one of my favorite JB apps.

Crash Reporter confirmed that CallBar was causing the respring loop on my device. I emailed the syslog and the crash report log to one of their devs (Limneos) - but he has not responded.

This is my fav JB tweak/app and I really need to find a fix for this.

I don't have Twitter....is there another way to contact him or the other dev (Tucker) and get them to review the crash report???

Thanks.

Man I was just thinking about purchasing call bar too. Glad you figured it out, but sorry it was one of your favorite tweaks.

This is the only thing that sucks about new jail breaks. Waiting for all the tweaks to be updated and bugs to be worked out.

Oh man that sucks! CallBar is arguably the main reason I jailbreak too and I would be so pissed. What is conflicting with it? Because I use CallBar and have zero issues. Any idea what might be causing CallBar to crash?

Outside of email, I don't know of another way to contact the devs. When did you email Limneos? If I remember correctly, he lives in Greece so depending on when you sent the email, he might not have responded because he's sleeping. I'd assume it'll take a little time for him to respond. He has several really popular packages in Cydia.

This is the first JB that I have had an issue w/ CallBar. I have no clue what's causing it to crash on restart + respring. I removed a handful of *new* JB tweaks which I did not use in the Absinthe JB and CallBar is still crashing.

This is beyond weird. I emailed Limneos yesterday - I'm not a patient guy if you can tell. :D I hope he gets back to me after he reviews the crash logs/reports and hopefully finds the problem.

My situation is unique and it should definitely NOT stop you from purchasing CallBar (which many others use with NO issues whatsoever).

I'm 99.9% sure that some other app/tweak/modification is conflicting w/ CallBar in my situation. The problem is that I have no darn idea what's causing this on my iPhone. My troubleshooting efforts have not yielded an answer.

It's a great app and I highly recommend that you get it. Well worth the $3.99

+1. Completely agree. Well worth the price especially since so many new tweaks coming out these days cost $2 for minimal use. Heck just look through the changes tab at all the new packages which cost money. I'm not saying they're not worth the money, I'm saying CallBar IS worth the money hahah. CallBar is one of my favorites.

You might try removing NoSpot. I had SpotRemover installed on my phone and it kept the endless restart loops. Once I removed it, all has been well since. Maybe something is just messed up with removing the spotlight feature that screws with everything?

Not sure callbar would really do what I was wanting anyway. Does it work on lock screen? I'm trying to find a way to make my contact pictures small like in the apple commercials without having to use outlook or sync through gmail or Facebook or anything like that. For one, I'm too lazy to recreate all my contacts in another program lol and for two I don't use any of those other programs except Facebook and most of my contacts don't have their numbers on Facebook anyway.

If there was a jailbreak tweak that that forced the contact pictures to be small like iOS does when you sync from another source, I would definitely pay for it.

I thought I read a review in the past about callbar working on the lock screen, but I looked on Cydia and looked at some YouTube reviews and there's no mention of it. That would have been the only reason I wanted it really. Because I'm lazy lol I actually don't mind having to answer the phone when it rings because only my parents, work and like one friend call me anyway, everyone else texts me, so those people I actually have to answer. And with Verizon, multitasking is nonexistent so no need for call bar really.

Nice suggestion, THANKS! I removed 'NoSpot' and rebooted my iPhone a good 8-10 times and CallBar did NOT crash once. Maybe you have a point about it not playing nice w/ certain JB tweaks (CallBar being one of them). Interesting.

Further testing and "respringing" is required on my part to make certain of this but so far it looks like this was it.

Thanks again mpgolfpro.

Not sure about the whole contact picture thing you're talking about, but yes CallBar works on the lockscreen. It works ANYWHERE. When you receive calls, you'll get the CallBar banner instead of getting kicked out of whatever you were doing so that the phone app can open. And when you make calls, you just assign an activator gesture and the CallBar banner will appear anywhere without kicking you out of an app and you can place calls from the banner. You have access to your favorites, contacts, recents, and a dialer. You also have the option to access voicemail but it doesn't support visual voicemail so you either call your voicemail box or just use the phone app if you want visual voicemail. Personally I turn off the voicemail button in CallBar because I much rather use visual voicemail so I just use the phone app when checking voicemails.

So yes, it works on the lockscreen. I have mine assigned to a double press of the home button since I don't use the lockscreen music controls and I use zephyr for the multitasking tray. But you can assign CallBar to any activator gesture.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

Basically this is the only thing I really want and the only thing I was trying to achieve if I were to purchase callbar, the small contact pictures. It seemed like the only tweak that would give me anything remotely close to what I'm trying to do.

Although the other features sound really nice, I'm just not sure it's something I would completely benefit from. I just wish there was a tweak that would force contact pictures assigned on the phone to be small like that so I didn't have to go through extra steps of doing it. Why doesn't apple implement a simple option for full screen or thumbnail photos for incoming calls? Lol.

But thank you for explaining a lot of the callbar features. I may still end up checking it out someday in the future.

You're very welcome. I just added a picture to my friend. I'm gonna have him call me in a few minutes. Ill let you know what happens when he calls. Ill also try to take a screenshot so you can see for yourself.

Hey just wanted to let you know. CallBar does place a small image of your contact pic on the screen when the phone rings but its tiny. It's on the far right side of the CallBar banner and is only as tall as the banner so its pretty tiny. But it does use a small pic instead of the full screen image on the lockscreen. I hope this helps.

Edit: Actually I misspoke. When the phone is ringing the picture is a little smaller than the image you posted. Its about the same size as the default clock section on the lockscreen. Then when you answer the call it shrinks to the typical CallBar banner. This small banner is the exact same when you place calls too. But when the phone is ringing on the lockscreen you get a much larger image. When the phone is unlocked, you just get the typical CallBar banner and not that enlarged image I just described.

Sorry for the confusion. I hope this helps. Next time I'm with my friend, which should be tomorrow or Saturday, I'll take a picture of what it looks like for you and post it here.

Thanks for the testing. I actually managed to set up a gmail and just use it to import all my contacts to it so I could get the small incoming call picture. It was quite a hassle.... A lot of my information like birthdays and notes weren't syncing over. And then it was organizing them differently, not syncing photos, a bunch of annoying stuff.

But three hours later I finally have it figured out and I guess it save me $4 lol

I was wondering how call bar would work with diet bulletin anyway.
