I received my 13" 2GHz Core Duo exactly two weeks ago this coming Tuesday. I have a simple question. If Apple does end up releasing a Merom MacBook on Tuesday, can I exchange this one for that one? I forget the policy regarding this. I thought it was two weeks, but not sure. Thanks! :)

If you want to exchange with the excuse that's just a "new model", then much probably the answer is no.
I think they only do that with problematic laptops...

If it is a custom configured machine, you are stuck with it.

Otherwise you have 2 weeks to return the open box for a 10% restocking fee.

1 - Merom MBs will not come this Tuesday. At the very least they'd wait until Paris, wouldn't they?

2 - You've opened the MB, so if you wanted to do a return, it'd cost you a 10% restocking fee unless there is a problem with yours (one that would warrant an exchange, nonetheless).

3 - Be happy with what you've got. You only bought it 2 weeks ago.. why are you already scheming to get rid of it?

Apple has a 2-week return policy. So all the above posts are invalid for you since you have passed the 2-week period. Now you absolutely CANNOT return your computer. If a problem arises with the machine you can send it in for repair for a year if you don't have applecare or if you do then you can get it repaired for an additional 2 years for a total of 3 years from the date of purchase.

Although, this 2 week return period is not as strict as you may think...When i had my MacBook, i called them up about 3 weeks later demanding a return due to the screen bezel coming apart... the first thing they said is that i would have to send it in for repair, but i pressed the issue, saying that i wanted to return it and get a macbook pro instead, and THAT was the winning sentence. Then they just said OK, send it in and you will be refunded. I guess they figured that it was worth it for them because they would be getting more money from me by my purchase of a MBP.

I love my MacBook. I'm only curious if something comes out within 2 weeks of my purchase because if it's that soon, I think I should be entitled to an exchange. Thank you for all the info guys! :)

So, how many of you actually think something will happen this Tuesday to the MacBooks?

Think of how much money they'd lose if they did that. New product released and now anyone who has bought one of the older 'versions' in the last two weeks gets to dump off theirs and get a new one? That's a heck of a lot of macbooks.

Not I.
