restocking fee on return refurb?

I haven't picked one up yet, but what if I pick up a refurb and I return in because of screen issues? Do I pay the restocking fee? What if there are 1 or 2 stuck pixels and this falls within Apples guidelines... but I don't want it because of the pixels (or other screen problem)? Do they hit me with a restocking fee? Just curious.

AFAIK restocking fees are charged by the Brick & Mortar stores if he customer returns a sound product.

If you are worried then don't buy one, if there is a actual defect they won't charge you. Regarding the pixel question you should call and ask, get the agents name and id so it ever becomes an issue (which I seriously doubt) then you have some recourse.

Remember what you read on these forums is not an accurate cross section of all the machines made. It's from an extremely small (but sometime vocal) group.

The iMac in my signature is a refurb and I haven't had any problems at all.

Something that I considered (and this is entirely apocryphal, anecdotal) is the possible likelihood that a refurb unit was likely to have been returned because of the yellow tint or monitor whine issue.

So I anticipated that the problem would have already been fixed.

There's a fairly common very slight monitor bleed that some people notice when the screen is first powering up, or when you are doing something that might require a full size screen that is basically a medium grey to medium blue colour. I haven't noticed it on my machine, but from the photos of it that I have seen, I think I'd consider that the overall excellence of the 2560x1440 screen makes up for any perceived slight bleed...several times over.

In short, I don't think you have much to worry about. I checked out the reputation of Apple refurb units and processes before I jumped into the Apple camp, and I have not been disappointed.
