Restore a 11.4 iTunes backup on Xs’ iOS 12

Ok, that’s pretty urgent now.
Sold my iPhone 8 with iOS 11.4, will deliver it today to the buyer, made a full iTunes backup 5 minutes ago.
When the iPhone xs will arrive in few days, it will have iOS 12 installed.
Will I be able to restore the backup made under 11.4 on the iPhone with iOS 12 ?

You will be able to restore the backup, but it won't roll back the OS to 11.4. At least that's been my experience.

Older iOS backup restore runs on newer iOS fine.
