Last year I remember my iCloud restore from iPhone 7 to iPhone X did not download my Apple Music library. I always have it set to download everything I add. But that didn’t happen with the restore - it only downloaded new stuff added afterwards. I had to manually go to every single album in my library and re-download them onto my new phone.

Is there a way to avoid having to do this tomorrow with the XS? I have a much larger library now. I just want everything downloaded to the phone easily.

I ran into a similar issue with Apple Music before when upgrading and restoring from iCloud. I made life easier by creating a playlist of “all songs” so that I could “download all” from one playlist as opposed to manually downloading each album.

Still a plain, but hopefully that helps.

How can you go about doing that? I don’t see any way to add to a playlist aside from individual albums or songs.

You create the playlist on iTunes and then it will sync to your phone. It's the easiest way.

I also have a question, I have an XS on the way. All of my Apple Music is downloaded to my current phone and my MacBook. Am I able to plug my phone into my Mac and sync the songs via iTunes to save on my data limit cap downloading 13 GB of Apple Music tracks?

As much as they push Apple Music and upgrading your phone they should introduce some easy way to transfer your music.

It actually blows my mind how they haven’t done anything for that.
