I have a jailbroken 3GS running 3.0 but I've added and removed a bunch of apps and it is giving me some problems. I think my cydia database is corrupt because it doesn't show any of the apps that I know are installed on the phone using cydia. I can't get the MMS to work on the phone and a bunch of other issues. I want to restore to 3.0, jailbreak and then start fresh but I've seen some post talking about the changes that Saurik has uncovered on the 3GS that require the phone to authenticate when restoring to 3.0. Does anyone know if that will be an issue? Can I do an itunes restore to 3.0 and then jailbreak using pawnage?

TIA

Jose

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

You cannot restore your 3GS to 3.0 unless Saurik has your info stored in Cydia. You would have had to press the "make my life easier" link prior to 3.1 coming out.

RE: Restore and Jailbreak 3GS on 3.0

I am also in the same boat. I jailbroke my 3GS with redsn0w .8

Question:

So if you have an already jailbroken 3GS @ 3.0 or 3.01 then
the only option that you have to restore is official 3.1 fw(I know that consequences) or wait for new Iphone Dev Team to release 3GS pwnage tool?

Can you restore to an already jailbroken 3.0 or 3.01 custom firmware?
Are there custom 3GS firmwares on the net?

Thanks

I did let cydia backup my information so after some reading I guess that I can restore to 3.01 and then let Suarik's server sign my firmware. It seems like a lot of work so I'm going to hold off just a bit in the hopes that the 3.1 jailbreak is coming in the coming week or so.

If when you open Cydia, you see "This device has a 3.0 ECID SHSH on file" then you can restore and rejailbreak. If you do not have that, then you can't.

Note that he was unable to capture 3.0.1 SHSHs, so you cannot revert to 3.0.1 even if you have this.

when i open cydia, i see on top that is says: This device has a pending TSS request." what's that? i did select make my life easier... but how come i don't see what you typed?

That means your device isn't hashed. You're out of luck for 3.0.

so does that mean i'm screwed? i ran the unlock and still doesn't work. is there anyway for me to restore back to the original 3.0 FW and JB and try to unlock again?

what should i do?

No. There is no way to restore 3.0.

You can wait until the 3.1 JB tool comes out, then you can upgrade to JB 3.1 without upgrading your baseband...
