I want to restore back to IOS13 using iTunes, then load the old backup before the upgrade. I have installed Philips Hue software since upgrading. Will I lose the app and the settings I have applied in the app? Thanks.

Check if this newly installed Hue software is backed up in the iCloud (Settings - Your name at the top - iCloud - Apps Using iCloud), as well as under the app’s own settings (Settings, scroll down to find the app). If it does, the chances are good you would get it back.

However, at this point in the beta cycle, with weekly new beta releases, you might find it easier to wait and see if the new beta will fix whatever you are unhappy about with the current beta.

I don’t think you are right here (unless I’ve misread it of course).

When he restores back it will go to iOS 13 and of course his backup will be from iOS 13 and he will not get the Hue app back until he re-downloads it from the App Store. However, the Philips Hue settings are stored on the bridge itself (it does not save to iCloud) so he should get his settings back when he signs in to the Hue app.

I might have expressed myself awkwardly. From what I have understood, the OP first installed a beta of iOS 14, then the Philips Hue app on top. Now he wants to get back to iOS 13, using his iTunes backup, wondering what would happen to his Philips Hue app in the process. I just assumed the OP understands that since he installed the Hue app in iOS 14 beta, it will be missing from his iOS 13 backup and he would need to reinstall it again. My apologies for any confusion. 🙏🏻

At this point, I would personally move along the iOS 14 beta cycle.

Regarding staying with iOS 14, I completely agree with you. I would be interested to know why the OP wants to go back to 13… Can only assume an app compatibility issue...

Thanks for the replies. My favourite app is the Apple maps one and I can’t use it at all. Crashes every time I click on go when selecting a destination. Sometimes crashes to Home Screen before I even select Go. Reported it to Apple a few times using the feedback app.
