Hello all, I have a 10.2 iPhone 7, I also have a backup of my 10.2 6s I want to put on my 7, is that possible or will iTunes force me to update before I put the backup on there?

thanks

backup of an older device on the same or older ios will restore onto a newer device just fine. done that for years as i upgraded phones. my backup originates from the ipod touch 3rd gen.

6s backup will go on the 7, no need to update
Correct
Thank you

Bought a 128GB PC and been running around all day trying to find space to backup my 6s

Apparently to Restore from Backup your PC needs a bit of space, and if don't have enough (4GB free for example) then iTunes will eat that for no reason, and it won't Restore from Backup (so not only did it not restore, I lost 4GB to nothing, on top of my storage problems)
