Can someone advise if it’s possible to restore old iMessages from iCloud without doing a full phone restore from backup?

I have a company issued iPhone that I also use for personal use, however I seem to have developed a profile or certificate issue months ago that can’t seem to be resolve by the IT dept. Ive backed up and done a full restore but the issue was still there. I’ve now borrowed another phone and I’ve set that up as a new phone using my existing Apple ID, but didn’t restore from back up this time. Since I saw previously that iMessages was showing as backed up using iCloud, I was hoping it would populate the old iMessages when it was set up but it hasn’t done that.

So the question is, is there a way for me to fairly easily restore the old iMessages only, without reverting to doing a full restore which will just reintroduce a UI profile/cert issue.

Well landed up sorting it myself, so figured I’d share for someone else’s benefit in the future. Basically if you go into ‘settings’ and select your Apple ID, then go into the iCloud account listed and in the list of ‘Apps using iCloud’ select ‘Show all“, then it’ll show all the apps using iCloud and from there select ’Messages’ and in that menu there is an option to toggle on ‘Sync this iPhone’, as soon as I did that, its started downloading all 10+ years of sms/iMessages 😊
