Restore iPhone X to iPhone 8

Hi there

I am selling my iPhone X and I will wait for the new iPhone that will come out in September. So during the next couple of months I will use my old iPhone 8.
I would like to know what will happen if I restore my iCloud backup? Since the screens are different... will all my icons be mover around automatically?!

Honestly, Apple is really, really good at this. The transition will be unbelievably smooth. They also happen to have the same number of icons per screen, so you're all good.

Thanks! Are you sure about the number of icons? I thought the iPhone X has one more row of apps...

They have the same number of columns and rows. Can't you just check them?

Oh okay thanks! I couldn’t check it because my old iPhone 8 is not set up yet
