I moved my backup from one Mac to another. When I start iTunes to do the restore, the file is still not showing up in my Restore options. I moved it to the storage area that Apple told me was holding my backups. \username/Library/Application Support/Mobilesync/Backups.

You might be able to use a program called iBackupBot. I haven't used it in awhile but last time it did have an option to restore a backup that you had saved somewhere else. If you get any registration prompts while using the software you can click cancel and it will still function.
