Restored a Jailbroken Phone...Battery % still there

This is a bit strange.

I jailbroke my phone after 2.1 came out and installed a few things. One of them was the battery icon as a % of battery life left. Anyway Last night I decided there was nothing compelling for me to be jailbroken and that my battery life sucked and in my head I was blaming to JB so I did a restore. I synched before I went to sleep. Woke up this morning, took it off the charger and out of habit tapped the battery icon. Lo and behold the % is still there. Rebooted, still there. What gives? Anyone else experience this? How did you get rid of it?

I'm not sure if you're talking about the same thing, but I had BossPrefs installed at one point which allowed you to display a % at the top of the screen where the battery indicator is.

I un-jailbroke my phone to install a new firmware but when I did it still had the % instead of the battery guage. To get rid of it I re-jailbroke my phone, installed BossPrefs again and changed the option so that it no longer showed the %. I then re-installed the newer firmware (thereby un-jailbreaking my phone) and all was back to normal.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the same thing, but it might give you some ideas.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Damn that's a lot of work. Good to know though - I'll keep it in mind if I need to return the phone for warranty work or anything

You restored from a backup. You need to restore as new phone if you want the jailbreak to be *completely* gone.

That's actually fairly common. You have to be sure to do a DFU restore in order to be sure that it is a complete restore. Just plugging in and hitting restore in iTunes can leave some preferences (like battery or carrier mods) intact.

I ALWAYS DFU restore any time I need to do one.

That could have been the case, but like I posted above, a regular restore, even when set up as a new phone, can leave some preferences from the jailbreak. I think this is where the rumor that Apple has some secret way of detecting a jailbreak. If you DFU restore, the entire OS is re-written.
