I was recently given an iPod (dock connector) 2003 model which is formatted for windows use. I would like to restore the iPod in iTunes on my retina macbook pro in order to change it to formatted for macintosh, but I don't have a firewire port and i'm hesitant to attempt a restore in iTunes via my dual firewire - USB to 30 pin connector as I have read online about the restore failing when attempting through USB and not being able to install the software again. My question is will the restore process successfully work if the iPod is connected to the firewire AC wall charger while connected to iTunes via USB? Any help will be much appreciated.
