Hello Megamindz am a new guy who happened to swirl in the world of iphone after a buddy came looking for help! his sisters iphone 3G is disabled and only restore can solve it! things got complicated when i found out its not just connecting in DFU and clicking Restore+shift select an IPSW and restoring. the process was complicated when i got error 2003 which is an error of data cable blah blah so, the process got upto that point after verifying with apple and preparing the iphone to restore..it failed! i'm looking for a data cable for it since its different than the charging cable?? while doing so since am a third party and guy found in Ethiopia, the iphone costs a fortune and don't want to get beheaded.

don't know the base band!
don't know the IOS version( but since iTunes said iPhone is uptodate and tried downloading IOS 4.2.1 i figured its IOS 4.2.1, i couldn't know since its disabled!)
afraid of bricking it!
okay anyone who wants to help me answer the following questions!
can i save the shsh while in recovery loop? (thought its formatted and got nowhere else to boot)
it's jailbroken and unlocked to our network! so restoring might destroy the jailbreak? how severe? any safer way to restore it? am i forced to install custom IPSW to preserve the baseband? any tip on baseband is acceptable!
did i made unrecoverable mistake while just jumping to restore through itunes without saving any shsh!? any workaround if the iphone gets bricked? please answer me cause i'm getting more nervous looking at the itunes logo on the iphone! THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
